Chef of the Month

Come the New Year we will be featuring a "Chef of the Month" page

Chef of the Month

Every month through 2023 we will be featuring an Alston Moor Chef, who you might know or not know. They don't have to have a venue, all they need to be is a great chef. And we know of several people who would fit this bill!!

We will be asking our featured Chef what tips they have for the kitchen and to give us a recipe that they enjoy cooking that works for a limited budget.

Our first Chef will be Ricky from Saddler's Bakery. If you have ever been to Saddlers you will know what an amazingly good cook he is. He makes superb pies and everything in between from soup to nuts!! His oriental and Indian food is to die for.

Also at Saddlers is Hayley. Hayley is a genius with cake!! (See the photos) She makes the most delicious cakes but also the most artistic and interesting decorations. Just take a look at the samples of some of the cakes she has made. How does she do it?

Well, later on in the year, if she agrees, we will be asking her about her cakes too.!!

What Chef do you know that you would like us to ask to our Chef of the Month feature? Please get in touch and tell us who you would recommend.

EDIT: Rick and Hayley at Saddlers have tried their best to get round to being our Chefs, but the work of the Bakery takes up too much time. Understandably as the food is all hand made, even the spices hand ground and Hayley's cakes take a while to perfect. And they really are amazing. (They have two kids too!! Enough said!)

The Foodbank found an article abut Hayley that was posted on 13th February in the News and Star and here is the link.
