Grow it again on the windowsill
Don't bin the white root ends of spring onions. Stand them in a glass of water on the windowsill and they grow back. The same works with the heart of a lettuce and the base of a leek. Change the water every couple of days. Free salad out of something that was heading for the bin. Children love doing this one ā it'sā¦

We've even given an approximate cost for each portion based on what's on the shelves at local shops, including the Spar, the Co-op and Alston Wholefoods. Hopefully there is something to suit all tastes. We try to add new recipes as often as possible so there is always something new and fresh up here.

Our parcels are delivered by appointed volunteers who will respect your confidentiality and privacy. We will either deliver to your house or somewhere more private, so no one needs to know you are getting a Foodbank parcel.
