This website's aim is to provide you with a wealth of recipes, kitchen tips, and resources for residents of Alston Moor and for those facing financial difficulties.
We hope that our website will give you the tools and support you need to create delicious, budget-friendly meals.
No need to trawl the internet looking for cheap, quick and delicious recipes. We've done the hard work for you. We've even given an approximate cost for each portion based on what's on the shelves at local shops, including the Spar, the Co-op and Alston Wholefoods. Hopefully there is something to suit all tastes. We try to add new recipes as often as possible so there is always something new and fresh up here.
There are lots of organisations and groups who can offer support or useful advice, it's just knowing where to look. Make a start here, where we've listed many of them. It's not an exhaustive list by any means, but we're certain that the contacts on this website can direct you to where you need to go. Also featured on the site is Handy Tips We know there are loads of little things that can make a difference to both our lives and our pockets.
Even if you don't need to pick up the telephone and call us on 01434 647247, please take a look around at the resources, recipes, and money saving tips on here. Even if you are managing your finances at the moment, but are worried about the coming months, there is help and advice out there. Whatever your situation, plan ahead, starting now.
The Food Bank is already supporting several people across Alston Moor. If you are lucky enough to not need the Foodbank and can afford to make a donation, even if it's just a couple of quid, please do. It will make a big difference to someone's life.
Our parcels are delivered by appointed volunteers who will respect your confidentiality and privacy. We will either deliver to your house or somewhere more private, so no one needs to know you are getting a Foodbank parcel.
Please don't hesitate to call us if you need the Food Bank's support.
People on Alston Moor
We are building up a "Library" or maybe call it "Bank" of recipes and kitchen tips. We will try and feature a new one every week. You can find them here.
We also would like recipes and tips from you. What is your favourite dish? What kitchen tip could you share with us?
Send us a recipe or a "tip" that you think people would like and appreciate. We will feature it as our recipe or tip of the month. We are showcasing that it is very possible to eat well on a limited budget.
