Lou's shop is The Cane Workshop in the middle of Alston town. which , amongst other things re-canes cane chair chairs. Also under the name of Stoke House she also sells and makes jams and preserves.
Its a little emporium of gifts and things to love and cherish!
This is where Lou repairs and refurbishes old cane chairs. It's a skilled labour of love. As you can see below - a chair from battered and not much use to a beautiful piece of furniture.
If you are interested in caning she also sells kits to buy so you can do it yourself. But beware - its a skilled art!
Also under the name of Stokoe House, Lou makes some absolutely delicious jams and preserves, which she has won many awards for.
If you are in town you can buy her produce at her shop or at the Wholefood Shop just across the road. Or from her website
Lou's recipe is Falafels which is a firm favourite with her family. And her kitchen tip is making use of left over mashed potatoes.
